about

sound pack Number 002

This is a full collection of samples I compiled of my acoustic drum set. After moving into an apartment, it became quickly apparent that I would no longer be able to play my drums where I live.

Since I make music, being unable to make beats can come off as a slight problem occasionally. Using Mixcraft there are numerous drum kit VST options, as most respectable DAWs have, but they aren't my drums...

Now, my drums aren't great by any stretch but it's the sound I am most used to, and I do like them, so I eventually came up with the idea to make my own Drum Kit VST.

this Frankenstein setup consists of:
2 Bass Drums
4 Snares
4 Toms
1 Floor Tom
1 Ride Cymbal
1 Crash Cymbals
1 Hi-Hat Cymbal
and one Cowbell

The first round of recordings went quickly. I brought my entire set to a friend's house. setting up the mics and recording each part was nice and went easily.

Then came the painstaking process of editing the recordings and finding the program that would properly take the files. The only thing I found was a VST in Reaper. It wasn't creating my own VST, but it worked. I filled out all the correct positions with what I had (following the MIDI chart) only to realize even with all the parts I had there were so many open spaces on the keyboard.

Once again, I followed my MIDI Chart, gathered the miscellaneous instruments I owned, and recorded each one on said chart. While it filled out quite a bit it still didn't fill it all, so for fun, I added a few more sounds and instrument recordings as well.

this VST with all the compiled files fills a staggering 62 keys on a keyboard but will work properly if you have an electric Drum set.

the downside is it only works in Reaper... Now hear me out for a moment, in this pack I am presenting all the RAW files to use as you like and in any way.

I dropped the saved VST in its entirety if you use Reaper as a bonus.

Thank you and sorry for the bit of rambling, but I hope you enjoy this
pack and I hope it helps you in your musical endeavors!

Ps. I might attempt to redo this all in the future with better equipment and actually make a VST next time,
